Paul ChapmanGEELONG midfielder Paul Chapman continued to press for a senior recall after starring with 25 disposals in the VFL at Burbank Oval on Sunday.

The Cats veteran played a terrific second half to put his name in the mix for a recall against West Coast next week, but it is more likely he will spend another week in the VFL and return the next week against Sydney.

“I thought Paul played a good game, obviously Lower was assigned to the job to make it as difficult as possible for Chappy but he worked through that situation really well. I thought some of his inside contest work was excellent. I thought he started to really break away from the stoppages in the second half and his ball use came into it and I think he had about eight to 10 tackles on the day as well so that defensive stuff certainly pleased us,” Knights said.

“I thought it was another step up for him this week, he was in good nick again today.”

Knights said he was also impressed that George Burbury and Jackson Sheringham, who have both struggled with injury issues, got through the game unscathed.

“It was an amazing positive that he (Burbury) got through the game, it’s been a very frustrating time for him,” Knights said.

“To have those two players get through the game is probably the biggest bonus out of the game to be honest.”
